Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State yesterday said the choice of the national coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) Gani Adams as the 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland is right.
Speaking at the 50th birthday celebration of his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Semiu Okanlawon in Iwo, Aregbesola stressed that the decision of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, on Gani Adams was in order.
Since the demise of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, the position had been vacant until the monarch gave it to Adams.
The appointment of Adams as the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland generated controversy as some people said that the OPC leader was not qualified to hold the position.
But Aregbesola insisted that Adams was capable. “I know his activities. He has become the generalissimo of seen and unseen Yorubas. You are worthy of the title, I salute you,” the governor said. here
