I'm Still In EFCC Custody Says Anyim

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, says he is still the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, contrary to the impression being created that he has been released.

The EFCC arrested Anyim in connection with a sum of N520m, which he allegedly collected from ex-National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, on the eve of the 2015 general election.

The EFCC said he is also investigating Anyim for alleged contract scam of N13bn.

Sources in the EFC had reportedly said on Monday that the ex-SGF had been released on bail after he submitted his passport to the anti-graft agency.

Buhari Will Not Automatically Be APC Candidate In 2019, Tinubu Says

Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that the party would not issue an automatic ticket for President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the 2019 presidential election.

He said the party would follow the rules and regulations guiding its constitution in choosing the candidate ahead of the general elections.

Mr. Tinubu spoke on Wednesday during a private visit to Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Mr. Fasoranti, the foremost national leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, had parted ways with Mr. Tinubu in 2013.

Nigeria Police Reinstates Officer Who Killed Igbo Traders

The Nigerian Police Force has ordered the reinstatement of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Danjuma an officer responsible for the extra-judicial of killing five young auto spare parts traders and a young woman on June 7, 2005, in Apo township, a satellite settlement at the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja.

The victims, Ekene Isaac Mgbe, Ifeanyi Ozor, Chinedu Meniru, Paulinus Ogbonna, Anthony Nwokike, and Augustina Arebu, were returning from a nightclub when they were stopped at a police checkpoint and extra-judicially murdered by a contingent of policemen led by Danjuma.

Ita Ekpenyong Speaks On His Failed Arrest By EFCC


Former Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Ita Ekpenyong has reacted to his failed arrest by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), over alleged involvement in arm purchase for the Nigerian Military. An Unnamed source close to the former DGSS told Vanguard that the attempt to arrest Ita was strange, despicable and an afterthought since Ekpenyong was never invited or questioned in relation to the arms probe.

He explained that the former DG of the DSS has no business buying military equipment for the Military since they have their laid down procedures and policies.
