Man Teaches His Daughter How To Drive In Kano As They Crash Into A Pole



A driver who was reportedly teaching his daughter how to drive landed in a gutter after crashing into a pole in Kano state. The car occupants were said to have come out of the accident unhurt as residents gathered to see what happened. The vehicle which had the learners 'L' sign was later taken towed away.

Some users of Samsung's new Galaxy S8 smartphone are seeing red. Literally.
The company is issuing new software for the S8 after customers complained of red-tinted display screens. The update comes just days after Samsung launched its flagship phone in the U.S. and South Korea.

Trump backs down on border wall funding

Donald Trump has indicated he will ditch plans to find cash for his border wall in this week's spending bill.
The president's close adviser, Kellyanne Conway, said funding for the wall would be left out of a budget measure that must pass by Friday.
Building the wall, paid for by Mexico, was a key campaign promise.

St Petersburg bombing: Group says al-Qaeda chief ordered attack

A little-known group claiming links to al-Qaeda has said it carried out the deadly metro bombing in St Petersburg earlier this month.
The Imam Shamil Battalion said the attack in the Russian city was carried out on the orders of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.
Its statement has been circulated by high-profile al-Qaeda supporters on the Telegram messaging app.

Thai man kills baby on Facebook Live then takes own life

A Thai man filmed himself killing his baby daughter on Facebook Live, before taking his own life, Thai police say.
The 21-year-old hanged his daughter, and then himself, at a deserted hotel in Phuket on Monday, reportedly after an argument with his wife.
Facebook sent condolences to the family for the "appalling" incident and said that the content had now been removed.

Nnamdi Kanu’s family, lawyer disagree over bail


The family of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and Ifeanyi Ejiofor, his lawyer, are not on the same page regarding the bail which Binta Nyako, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, granted him on Tuesday.
Nyako had granted Kanu bail on stringent terms. One of the conditions is that he must present a Jewish leader as surety.
But a family source told TheCable that the IPOB leader had rejected the order for his conditional release.

APC tells Buhari to leave Jonathan alone, says his government losing direction


The Arewa Peace Coalition, APC, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop blaming his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan and focus on his government which is “losing direction.”
A statement by its Coordinator, Abdulkadir Mohammed said the President should pay more attention to the prevalent national issues among which are lopsided appointments and the economic hardship facing the country.
The group urged Buhari to discourage the “current negative campaign” against Jonathan and focus on improving the quality of lives of millions of Nigerians.

BREAKING: Court grants Nnamdi Kanu bail



A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday granted bail to the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on health grounds.

Justice Nyako however barred the IPOB leader from granting press interview while on bail.
The judge also gave a stern warning to the defendant not to participate in any rally or be found in a crowd of more than 10 persons in the course of the bail.

US Court Sentences Russian Lawmaker's Son to 27 Years in Jail for Hacking



The son of a prominent Russian lawmaker was sentenced on Friday by a US federal court to 27 years in prison after being convicted of stealing millions of US credit card numbers and causing some $170 million in damages to businesses and individuals.

This sentence is so far the longest sentence ever imposed in the United States for a hacking-related case.

Roman Valeryevich Seleznev, 32, the son of a Russian Parliament member of the nationalist Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR), Valery Seleznev, was arrested in 2014 while attempting to board a flight in the Maldives and then extradited to the United States.

Android Banking Trojan Found on Google Play Store



A security researcher has discovered a new deviation of the notorious Android banking Trojan hiding in apps under different names, such as Funny Videos 2017, on Google Play Store. Niels Croese, the security researcher at Securify B.V firm, analyzed the Funny Videos app that has 1,000 to 5,000 installs and found that the app acts like any of the regular video applications on Play Store, but in the background, it targets victims from banks around the world.

This newly discovered banking Trojan works like any other banking malware, but two things that makes it different from others are — its capability to target victims and use of DexProtector tool to obfuscate the app's code.

MasterCard launches Credit Card with Built-In Fingerprint Scanner


MasterCard has unveiled its brand new payment card that has a built-in biometric fingerprint scanner, allowing customers to authorize payments with their fingerprint, without requiring a PIN code or a signature.


The company is already testing the new biometric payment cards, combined with the on-board chips, in South Africa and says it hopes to roll out the new cards to the rest of the world by the end of 2017.

I know it's hard to imagine your life without the Internet, and the same was the case of two Ohio prisoners who built personal computers from parts from e-waste, hid them in the ceiling, and connected those PCs to the Internet via the prison's network.

The incident occurred in 2015 but has now been made public by the State of Ohio's Office of the Inspector General, which published a 50-page report [PDF] on Tuesday, following almost a year-long investigation.

According to the report, a prison work program has backfired two inmates of Marion Correctional Institution in Ohio, Florida, who smuggled computer parts from an e-waste recycling workshop and built two clandestine computers out of them.
